I am so excited to be participating (along with 500+ other bead artisans and aficionados across the world) in the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party. I am a "newbie" at this, but basically, how it works is, you are paired with another beader - each of you prepares a "bead soup" (the 2 requirements are a focal and a toggle - the rest of the soup is up to you); the two of you swap "soups;" and you design a piece of jewelry using what you receive (you must use the focal and the toggle - you may use other parts of the "soup" if you like and you are free to add other beads).
My partner in this exchange is Mandi E. of Craft-o-licious. Mandi has beautiful work on her site, and I hope to feature her and her designs here soon as part of my upcoming "Friday Feature." I've also learned that while I'm enjoying our cold snowy winter, Mandi is loving the Southern California sunshine. Ahh...
Above is the bead soup I am sending out to Mandi today. It was such a wonderful treasure hunt going through my beads - like every beader, I suppose, I forget what I have and it's fun to rediscover special treats. I was really pleased to find the frosted emerald green lampwork that I had from DerondaDesigns - a beautiful, rich color and perfect for the spring colors we're seeing this year.
And in case you want the details on these beads, here's a complete list of the soup's ingredients :)
